Residential Care Citations and Regulatory Update

The ISDH conducted eleven surveys in the month of June. There was a total of 41 residential tag citations with 6 of the 41 being offense tags.

Three facilities received an offensive tag for tag 052 – Residents Rights for failure to ensure the resident is free from abuse. Offensive tag 051 – Residents Rights was given to a facility for failure to ensure residents are free from physical or chemical restraints imposed for the purpose of discipline or convenience and not required to treat the resident’s medical condition. Offensive tag 0241 – Health Services was issued to a facility for failure to ensure the administration of medications were ordered by a physician and supervised by a licensed nurse on the premises or on call. Infection Control Offense tag 0406 was given wo a facility when they failed to establish and maintain an infection control practice designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of diseases and infection. The most frequently cited tag remains in the area Food and Nutritional Services for tag 0273 for failure to ensure all food preparation and serving areas are maintained in accordance with state and local sanitation and safe food handling standards.
