July Residential Care Citations

The ISDH conducted nine surveys in the month of July. There was a total of 42 residential tag citations with 7 of them being offense tags.

Five facilities received an offensive tag for 0241 - Health Services Offence for failure to ensure the administration of medications and the provision of residential nursing care shall be as ordered by the resident's physician and shall be supervised by licensed nurse on the premises or on call. One facility received an offensive tag for 052 - Residents Rights Offense for failure to ensure residents right to be free from abuse was upheld. One facility received an offensive tag for tag 0406 - Infection Control Offense for failure to establish and maintain an infection control practice designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection. The Top non-offensive tags were as follows:

Tag 0273 - Food and Nutritional Services for failure to ensure all food preparation and serving areas (excluding areas in resident units) are maintained in accordance with state and local sanitation and safe food handling standards.
Tag 0217 - Evaluation Deficiency for failure to identify and document the services to be provided by the facility as follows: The services offered to the individual shall be appropriate in scope, frequency, need, and preference.
Tag 0117 -Personnel Deficiency for failure to ensure staff was sufficient in number, qualification, and training in accordance with applicable state laws and rules to meet the twenty-four (24) hour scheduled and unscheduled needs of the residents and services provided.
