Interim Study Committee Update

The interim studies have begun and IHCA/INCAL’s governmental affair’s team have been watching two committees closely. The first is Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health and Human Services. At the last meeting, there was discussion regarding Indiana being included in the multi-state nurse licensure compact. The topic was fought by the Attorney General’s Office as have negative impacts on the state. The committee decided 14-0 to not include the program in their final recommendations that will be submitted to the legislator later this year. The next and final meeting is October 18, 2016 at 10 am. Hospital Immunizations is listed to be discussed, IHCA/INCAL followed this bill last session and will for this interim committee as well. To see the agenda, please click here.

The Interim Study Committee on Corrections and Criminal Code is the second committee we are watching. The topic of interest with this committee is current administrative law judges. There was a bill last session discussing the validity of these judges and if it should be changed to a court. Please click here to read the bill from 2016 session. The committee will have its final meeting this Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 1:30 pm. We expect to hear some more testimony about this bill. To access the committee agenda, please click here.
