Emergency Preparedness Exercise Requirements and Recommendation

On March 24, CMS published the linked memorandum which brings clarity to the expectations for providers and suppliers on meeting the emergency preparedness requirements related to training and testing by November 15, 2017.

In summary, providers and suppliers are expected to meet the requirements of the training and testing program on time. CMS is strongly encouraging providers and suppliers to seek out and participate in a full-scale, community-based exercise with local and/or state emergency agencies and health coalitions by November 15. CMS realizes not all agencies and coalitions will have the resources and/or ability to meet the full-scale community-based exercise by that date and have outlined modified requirements and required documentation.
IHCA is in discussions with ISDH and other community agencies to determine the most efficient means to support each member with these requirements in a timely fashion. Information in the near future will be provided as training and support is finalized.
