Associate Member Council Meeting - September 14, 2017

The following  is a recap of the Associate Member Council meeting on September 14, 2017.

In her new role as Director of Workforce Development and Member Services, Emily Berger will now oversee the Associate Member program. Emily can be contacted at eberger@ihca.org and 317-616-9036.


New Staff

  • IHCA/INCAL also welcomed Elizabeth Eichhorn as Director of Reimbursement Policy and Payor Affairs, and Erin Weliver as Director of Administration and Finance.

 

2017 IHCA/INCAL Convention & Expo

  • This year’s convention registration was strong at over 400 attendees in a non-CEU year
  • We hosted 82 exhibitor booths (sold out!)
  • Exhibitors and attendees gave the new venue, JW Marriott, high marks.
  • Survey and anecdotal feedback from associate members/vendors is that more/longer consecutive Expo hours would be preferable. The attendee appreciation reception was fun, but some exhibitors tore down early and we need more engagement from attendees. Council members discussed ways to improve the experience for all participants. Exhibitors who participate in other expos are invited to share details and feedback from other events to help us find the best scheduling option that meets the needs of exhibitors and attendees. Please send that feedback to eberger@ihca.org.
  • Other expo feedback included: More info on parking and set-up sent out in advance and posted to website
  • SAVE-THE-DATE: The 2018 Convention will be back at JW Marriott from July 31- August 2

 

2017 Associate Member Program

  • Standard associate member dues will remain at $500 for 2018.  We are reconfiguring additional membership levels. The offerings for these levels have not yet been determined but could possibly include early booth registration, additional event sponsorship and a package deal for advertising in IHCA/INCAL publications.
  • Any input or thoughts from associate members on what would be a good value-add to this third option would be appreciated.  
  • Dues packets and sponsorship opportunities will be mailed and emailed to AMs in early December. Please email Emily Berger at eberger@ihca.org if you need details prior to that time to plan for your 2018 budget cycle.


2017 Education

  • Regional Spring Conference – The dates for 20178 will be April 17-18. The conference will be back at French Lick, and the topic will be related to Regulations: Clinical and Life Safety Code. The Call for Presenters will be posted in mid-to-late-December.
  • Selling to Healthcare Boot Camp - Attached (see file in smartsheet attachments- can we link to this?) is information on a 2-day workshop/boot camp for companies providing products and services to skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers (this info was initially created for 2017, so please disregard the dates). It’s presented by Lou Ann Brubaker who led the Trade Show Exhibitor Training at Convention. The 2-day boot camp has been highly recommended by associate members who attended the one offered by our Ohio counterpart, and we are gauging interest in hosting one here. The estimated price to attend would $325/member. Let us know your thoughts and best timeline for hosting an event prior to a busy expo season for you as an exhibitor. Council members initially suggested late February/early March.
  • Associate Members are encouraged to participate in all of the IHCA/INCAL education events and webinars. Many of our webinars are free or low cost and can give AMs good insight into current issues and considerations facing our member facilities.


Clinical and Regulatory Update

  • Lori Davenport highlighted the Facility Assessment Tool that was recently shared with all members via email. Lori will be happy to send those details to Associate Members and explain how that tool can be used in your communication with facilities and LTC companies.


IHCF Update

  • Emily thanked Silent Auction sponsors and donors who supported the IHCF’s fundraising as part of the IHCA/INCAL convention. IHCF raised over $8,700 in scholarship support as part of the kick-off of its 20th anniversary celebration.
